Paphos wine lovers will have the opportunity to watch a leading sommelier in action at a unique wine tasting event taking place on Monday. Holder of the 2007 Best Sommelier in the World  Title, Andreas Larsson will take part in a blind  tasting  of 36 wine with eight Cyprus sommeliers will sample New World and local wine.

A Blind Tasting means that the  wines are served without tasters having seen a label or bottle shape in order to guarantee impartiality.

“The Paphos Blind Tasting is free-of-charge but we must stress that the public will not taste  the wines but observe the proceedings,” a spokesman for event organiser, The Oak Tree Wine Cellar in Larnaca.

Larsson started his career as a chef before graduating from the Restaurangakadamien in Stockholm in 1999. He was awarded the title of Best Sommelier in Europe in 2004 which was followed by the international title.

Larsson is in Cyprus from March 20 to 23 for a series of events and tastings. After the Paphos event, there will be five course dinner accompanied by five different wines at the Columbia Stake House in Limassol on Monday and a similar event at Little Buddha in Nicosia on Tuesday night. Larson will attend both and mingle with guests to discuss the  world of wine.

On Wednesday there is a tasting of 12 wines at the Columbia Conference Hall in Limassol from 3pm-5pm.
